Health Care Reform Proposal Information

I’m in favor of health care reform along the principles that have been outlined by Obama. But in this post, I’m mostly going to focus on rounding up information on just what the proposals are that are currently under discussion in the House and the Senate.

H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (Introduced in House), the full text of the law.

Friends Committee on National Legislation: Your Quick Guide on the Health Insurance Debate. This includes links to further information from FCNL, such as this side by side comparison of several current proposals.

The White House page on health care reform, and HealthReform.Gov, a further site setting out Obama’s position on health care reform.

Senator Kennedy, of course, has been too ill to provide the voice he otherwise would on health care reform, but since it’s been a pet issue of his for so long, one that I assume his staff is still monitoring in his absence, I’ll include his health care reform page.

The Kaiser Foundation offers a side-by-side comparison of the various health care reform proposals under discussion in the House and Senate. In particular, here’s their side by side comparison of H.R. 3200 and the Senate HELP Committee Affordable Health Choices Act. (Yeah, it’s an insurance industry source, but I’m including it because it does seem to have everyone’s proposal, without the utter BS about “death panels” and the like that’s being floated to kill H.R. 3200.)

Speaking of that utter BS, Steven Pearlstein at the Washington Post takes apart falsehoods in attacks on health care reform.

Ezra Klein has long been one of the better informed bloggers on health care issues, so I’ll just link his whole blog.

I may later write a few words of my own on this topic, but for now I’ll settle for these links.
