Way too Cute

Joel is feeling
The current mood of gazissax@best.com at www.imood.com

Ganesha isn't sure just why he gave in to the impulse to add this doohickey to his web page or what had come over his friends who thought it would make a cool addition to their pages. According to the developers:

imood helps you keep in touch with how you and your friends are feeling. It's that simple. We accomplish this by making it easy for everybody to find people, websites and books based on their emotions....We feel that it is important to remember that there are actual people with feelings on the other ends of the computers we use so much today. If we can use computers and the internet to help bring people a little bit closer, and make things a little more personal then perhaps we can start bridging the large divide that seems to separate us so often. The internet doesn't have to be impersonal and mechanic. The internet can also be a place where you come to learn about yourself and your friends. That's what we hope imood can do for you!

The plusses of imood include a broad array of faces, easy updating from your web browser, and the ability to customize the look and feel of your personal mood. The downside is that it's just too cute. Fortunately, it does not take up much space.

My Favorite Guestbook

Ganesha is fond of Dreambook, developed by the same people who initiated the Webring idea. Dreambook lets you set the look and feel of your guestbook. You can set the font, the messages, the background, and the kind of information you request from your guests. You can choose to receive alerts when someone has signed your guestbook and ban those fools who think a guestbook is something they can use for cheap advertising. Editing the look, feel, and content is easy for anyone with minimal html experience. Dreambook offers its own templates and allows you to create your own designs. You can even use Dreambook to set up a blog.

Fifty Word Fiction

Can you tell a story in fifty words or less? That's the aim of this site out of the UK. The site is the brainstorm of Alistair Fitchet, who writes:

Carrie McMillan told me one afternoon about a homework she had just set for her Year 9 English class: They had to write a piece of fiction in fifty words. I said it was impossible but dashed off to try my hand at it anyway. Fifteen minutes later I had my first fifty word fiction written, and a day after that I stuck up this website. Well, that's the fun of the Web, isn't it? Think it, make it, do it.

Can you do it?

You may post results to our Reader's Forum or leave a comment telling us where to find it.
