Five things feminism has done for me

1) The confidence to blow off the guidance counsellor who tried to talk me out of taking both the advanced math and the advanced science I was recommended for, going into high school, and the knowledge that my parents would back me up (back in the days of second wave feminism). One of the best decisions of my life.
2) I get to be an engineer! I get to work with computers! I get to make more money than I could have when these jobs were all reserved for the guys!
3) I can get my own credit any time I want.
4) More occasions when it’s OK for me to wear pants and have pockets.
5) If we were more fertile, I’d say birth control (which is certainly a boon to other women I know). Since we’re not so fertile, I’ll say that it’s easier to be infertile in a world where I get more opportunities outside of the home.
Via belledame222. Now I’m supposed to tag people, which is going to be really hard, since she’s tagged virtually the entire feminist blogosphere. I tag: the Feminist Mormon Housewives, Dry Bones Dance, Chari, Stentor, and Susie Bright (there, that should supply diversity, anyway). Also my sister, and anyone else who wants to join in.
