A couple of months ago, Anthony Manousos wrote a post on Howard Brinton as a Theologian and Apologist for “Real Quakerism” that’s worth a read. For those of my readers who aren’t Quakers, Howard Brinton is, among other things, the author of Friends for 300 Years, which, besides our Yearly Meeting’s Faith and Practice, is the book my own meeting most often recommends to new attenders looking to learn about Quakerism.

Father Gawain has a Litany for Motorcycles.

Eve Tushnet on the problems of the closet and how “for many people it just is a near occasion of sin.” A follow up post in which she links a discussion of the closet between her and Jendi Reiter, who encountered it from the perspective of a child with two moms. And Disputed Mutability talks about the Day of Silence and the harassment she experienced as a lesbian teenager. (Note that Eve, DM, and Jendi are all Christian, with Jendi on the gay affirming side of the Christian fence, and Eve and DM seeking to live the Christian teaching that involves not acting on any same-sex attractions.)

Sophia, whose blog I will miss, departs the blogosphere by posing, and answering for herself, the question, “what are five things for which would you put your hand in the fire? Things / people / causes in which you believe passionately and completely?”

A net friend of mine pointed out the Thought Questions web site, which has questions you can use for journaling.
